Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I don't do the special food for the babies.  Just the hens outside.   They get to free range come spring and all through the summer and fall.   Then in the winter I add other things..fruits and veggies.  And, BOSS.  This is excellent protein for them.  They love them too.

BOSS what is it and where do I get this. My babies can't free range. I am concerned that just the laying food is not enough

Day 1 for me here. Can I join in the fun? 10 Lavendar Americauna Eggs are set in my new Brinsea Octagon 20 incubator.

welcome!!

I wish I know where to get these things. Feel lost in feeding.

they have them in the produce section at my grocery store! watercress is especially yummy for chicks :)

Day 7 candle on my BLRW's today... I just put the flash light down onto the eggs while inside the incubator, these are all detached.

1 red ring culled :(
13 appear alive! :D
but 15 look very clear... had 29 to start.

of course I am leaving the clears in the incubator until day 15 or so... only cull when I have an obvious death (red ring) or if 1 that was previously alive obviously quits

Edit: oh and I snuck a peek at the Favs even though they are day 5, saw good veining so I am hopeful there!

Lol I have mine in the living room. In a cocktail cage. He just looks at me but don't say anything. He has no idea that I have another Bach hatching in a couple of weeks. And that in already collecting eggs to incubate right away.

Let us know how it goes.... and what his reaction is when he figures it out.

STILL LAUGHING......

Omg you guys!! Lol
My hubby would not stand for it. Not even in the garage... That's why he's getting me a shed soon lol I drove him crazy last summer with all the hatching... My plan is slowly coming together mwahahaha

HAHAHA.. I need to step up my game then. I'd like a new shed too. The wheels in my head go round and round, round and round... round and round. the wheels in my head go round and round all through the day.... LOL

dofi..I have a friend that does the same thing!   I thought how funny, but they all get along.   lol..

Lol when I read that I thought you were saying you kept your DH in a cage for some reason. Sorry, can you tell I'm tired? Lol

It's funny. When they see that we're going to hatch them anyways then they help. I know mine is tired of hearing chickens. Lol love the look on his face while he sits and listens
Your lucky. Mine looks for the first 2 minutes then says.... "here we go again. its the chick band." Even my little human babies are disinterested anymore.

My hubby helped me with the incubator but after I started brooding he kept nagging me "when are you gonna move them out? When are you gonna move them out?" I think he drive me nuts more than I drove him nuts

Wish he had more patience...
Exactly. Mine wouldn't help with the incubator. So I bought a few. He wouldn't help me with the coop either so I converted the kids old play house and added a 10 x 20 dog kennel to the side. I think he thought it was a phase. We moved last month and I had a tow truck move my coop. He couldn't believe it. I guess he thought I was gonna sell my babies. HA Last weekend, I bought a new playhouse....only problem is...... it has to be assembled. Gonna be fun asking for his help.
