Sounds like it quit. Wet the membrane with warm water. It should turn translucent. Look for veins & movement before eggtopsying.

#14 is the one that looks cracked to me. Porous (weak) shells crack easily. The area below the number that looks like a spiderweb made of light concerns me. I would coat that area thinly with nail polish or school glue. Some use wax, but I have never had luck with wax. I have too much trouble controlling where it drips & always miss spots. Sealing prevents bacteria ffrom getting into the egg & also prevents too much moisture loss/shrink wrap.

I think I will try out some nail polish. Thanks! ;).

I can't help my OCD.. But, you do realize that you wrote the numbers on the eggs upside down? :barnie  Just want to confirm that you know that if you have them set in a carton or upright, that the big end is supposed to be on top- seems backwards, but that's where air cells are. Darn my OCD! :duc

Haha. When I wrote the numbers, they where originally point side up. I realized they where upside down when I set them. I'm surprised its not bugging me lol.

Is it ok to join for my first hatch EVER?! I'm on day 5 hatching about 30 eggs consisting of blue and black Marans, Wheaton/blue Wheaton ameraucanas, and a couple brown leghorn/bbs ameraucana cross. Using a janoel8-48. Manual turning since the turner it came with isn't working properly. Eggs from my current flock. Excited :) Pictures to come on day 7 candling. Weeeeeeeeeee!

I'd be in there with a pencil eraser, changing it all around.

That's how I end up with problems.. I would probably end up cracking eggs too .. lol

The one with the Mushy tummy died shortly after I posted this.. I took it out to put some iodine on it and gave it a drop of water, held it for a bit and put it back in with the other two, stood and watched it flop itself over to the heat than I went about my chores, walked past the brooder about an hour later and it was laying on its side.. Poor thing.. Waiting for hubby to get home to help me with the one with splay leg.
