Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I would take it out, but not sure I would put it with the three day chicks..unless you can watch it for a while.  They tend to get knocked over by the older ones, and can actually squish the little one.  Is there some way you can separate them in the same brooder while they can still see each other until the little one is dry and up and waling about, in about a day?

Had to pull it outta there. Put it with the varsity squad in the brooder but they started pecking it. Ganged up in the poor little thing actually. Put it in another box sharing the same heat lamp till it gets it's game legs.

ok well its too late it died it was very malpositioned head was at small end of egg and no way it could pip I think it suffocated so I am at 0 out of 24 and pretty sure the one I have left that is at 22 is also gone. Oh well 9 more days until I can try it again. All the chicks I eggtopsied were fully formed and had fully absorbed there yolks :( I am going to call it a learning experience changed my temperature adn humidity level for the next batch.

that is the best way to look at it :)

if I can learn something from each hatch to change the next one, I feel it's upward progress... so sorry for your loss *hugs*

I'm so sorry! I know how you feel!! Got more in today, moved the incubator back where I had it the first time around and so far its holding steady right where I want it, Put a small space heater in that room so it stays around 70 degree's

Thanks I am trying to stay positive but it is hard We have three incubators so I can almost set new eggs every weekend lol my next set is due in 9 days and I upped the tempt to 102 and have been trying to keep the humidity at 20percent then there is another batch due 7 days after that one. I appreciate the support everyone gave me and will keep everyone posted I am also on the Feb. Hatch along.

Hi there! I'm confused as to what this rooster is. I got him and his hen on Saturday. They told me that they were both Araucanas, but then someone on here said that my hen is an EE. So I am completely lost. I've tried to do some researchers, but it seems like Araucanas, Americaunas, and EEs look the same to me. My roo, Arlo has a very nice black beard. I'll have to see if I can get a nice close up of him tomorrow.

Question for you all.......had one chick hatch 8 hours ago. It hasn't dried out yet. Perhaps the humidity is too high. Should I take it out and put it in a brooder with 3 day old chicks? Or should I just leave it in there?
Sometimes mine take 24 hours to dry. I have left mine in the incubator for 2 days without a problem. If you have an eggs with external pips, you could dry them out.

Luckily I didn't have any. I just got worried because the chick started pecking at the styrofoam. Didn't want it to eat any of it.

Got a mini mag lite pro today for egg candling. I feel like a child with a new toy! This is great! My new found hatching addiction has just intensified.

How many Lumen is it? Do you like how well it works?
I bought a hand held candler but it gets hot and the bulb already broke
