No, the turning rod moves very slowly. You will not be able to see it move. To make sure it's working put an egg in the black turning tray, write an x on one side and an o on the other side. Leave it for a few hours and then check. It will almost definitely have turned. One question, have you checked the temp with at least 2 calibrated thermometers? They must be calibrated ones. If you haven't checked it against calibrated thermometers that is why your chicks died. My incubator (same one) was not calibrated at all and many with the same one day theirs weren't calibrated either. The red digital readout on mine was 4 degrees off! So it really needs to be checked. So I think all my eggs are dead. Can anyone who has this incubator answer a question for me? If it's turned on and you look under the lid can you see the turning mechanism working? Pretty sure all my eggs have blood rings
How often do you need to calibrate it? Mine is at 38.4°CNo, the turning rod moves very slowly. You will not be able to see it move. I believe it should be 37.5C or 99.5 F ?How often do you need to calibrate it? Mine is at 38.4°C
I use calibrated thermometers to check the temp. 38.4 sounds too high. How often do you need to calibrate it? Mine is at 38.4°C
I was thinking the same! It’s the temp on the top to maintain the correct temp inside though. That’s why I was asking about calibrating.I use calibrated thermometers to check the temp. 38.4 sounds too high.
I don't know of any way to calibrate the readout on top. I guess just put it wherever it gets the desired temp inside. I had mine at 40.0 celsius for a week last year because it wouldn't stay warm inside. I had it wrapped in a blanket and everything. It was weird.I was thinking the same!
