Janoel 24 Incubator

If yours came with the incubator, it might be like mine.

Are the bulbs set down from the actual top of the flashlight?

Mine has a perfect opening where you put the egg. I wrap my fingers around the top of the flashlight and the egg so no light escapes.

Your son is never going to forget the memory of doing this with you...

When I was about 7 years old before my grandfather passed away, he was incubating ostrich eggs.

He had about four ostriches that he was breeding and he was selling the eggs to local restaurants.

When he candled the eggs for the first time with me, I was so amazed and I will never forget that feeling. When I candled my own eggs, it brought the memories back like crazy and I am 32 years old. That's how much of an impact that made on my life!

Mine does have a little gap between the lens and the end of the torch.

You can probably just set it on there and see how it works.

I'm not sure if you have any store-bought eggs or eggs that you use for cooking, but you can grab one of them and test your torch. You can practice so you won't be nervous when you do the hatching eggs.

Hardest part is the little fella just wants to put the eggs in now... he is 3 1/2 and sooo impatient. I am pretty impatient as well I must admit.

I remember doing it at school in Ag, but never had much to do with it as the teachers took control and took over!

I have no patience either  at my second hatch I was a lot better with patience. My first hatch I candled all the time, but the second one I did it on the days I told you. I got a better hatch rate the second time than the first.

I never got to hatch eggs in school, but back then I wasn't into farming like I am now.

I'm on the east coast and it's quite humid usually like 50% so I ran my incubator dry until day 18 and then put warm distilled water in until my hygrometer said 50%.

My incubator running dry was usually at 40% and that was perfect from my experience.

I don't go higher than 50% at day 18 because once they start externally pipping it increases the humidity so if it's too high to begin with condensation starts forming.

If you're adding water, add a little at a time then wait a bit to see what the hygrometer says. Wait about an hour or two. Then add more, I wouldn't go higher than 45% but it all depends on your location too.
