January 2017 Hatch-a-long

Two littles born during the night... I think the gray one is a boy as his dad is autosexing cream legbar and baby has a white spot on his head...

Any opinions.... on how often is too often to turn your eggs?

Is there a minimum number of hours I should wait between turns?

TIA :jumpy

Sorry I'm late to respond! Are you hand turning? I have done all my hatching hand turning (really just tilting my cut down egg cartons from side to side) and I usually do about 5 per day (pick an odd number so they "sleep" on a different side each night), during that time I chat with them about life, remind them to get plenty of rest and yolk, and tell them they've got a pretty big job coming up in ___ days. Okay, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration (except the 5x per day part).

My babies hatched Saturday evening through Sunday morning. They were not due until Sunday evening, and I am relieved I am not sitting at work right now worrying about late-hatching pipped eggs in the incubator. They are out in the brooder coop with my broody now and I hope they are staying warm and cozy despite our winds and rain we are getting right now. This weather is giving me anxiety because of them! I was banding them as they came out so I could know who came out of which color egg (Marans, EE, or OE) but they are so different looking I think I won't even need to reband them when I need to take the bands off.

So cute! I still have 2 yet to hatch... I wish my little OE would hatch so I can find out if it's a boy as well. It's my only egg that hasn't pipped and it isn't peeping! :(

OMG these things are cute! I need to stop monitoring this post. I do not have an incubator yet...

It's day 20 for me and I just heard my first ever incubator peep. No pips yet but I'm excited and nervous. My boys are sick of hearing about chicks and chickens so you lovely people are my only excitement outlet.
