It is early yet, but we are passed the X-mas and New Year deadlines, so I am going to go for a MLK hatch. (If I can find a good place to hatch or a good chicken to do the dirty work.) I don't have any eggs picked out, but I am eyeballing a few hens, and my LO Roosters I am hoping will be up to task. Any January hatchers are welcome.

Nice- all of Jan. is great!
I am going to take a deep breath and decide where I want to go with this hatch. I have LO roosters, and pullets, so I could have pures yes, but my pullets are not old enough yet, so that hatch will be later. This hatch I may just toss under a hen leghorn/LO eggs not for breeding but for egg production. I am also going to set up my incubator and put in some eggs I think are pretty, maybe try for those grey frizzles that lay a gray egg.

I make new hatched baby chick beds for my babies, and since you guys might hatch in Jan. I thought everyone should have these for their babies! My chicks love to hop up and down off the beds and sleep on them, they will refuse to sleep on the floor of the brooder after trying these beds! Below is a bed, Quilt and a slip cover.

I am going to toss in one more slip cover.

Putting these in tomorrow with 2 small eggs I am waiting for. The dad is Lavendar orpington. The dark brown are BCM, the light tan is Swedish Flower hen, the white is leghorn, to the far left light blue is an EE, the dark blue is a BO mix, the light green is a isbar, and the dark green is a frizzle. This is a real sampler! I hope to hatch out diff kinds see what I like.

Awesome! Can't wait to see how they turn out. My friend wanted to try her hand at hatching chicks, but can't keep them, so I ended up giving the dozen serama eggs to her and lending her an incubator. She's going to put them in tonight! I'll take them back after they hatch.

Fun, I have one little old english bantam, one bantam blue cochin, one bantam NN, 2 bantam sebrights (one gold, one silver). Hubby is not crazy about bantam eggs, though I use'm in scramble when ever I can.
