January Hatch-a-long 2018

Pics
Here are a couple of photos of some high air cells. Gives the chick less room to turn to pip. Unfortunately, my only pretty blue egg has an even higher one than these! View attachment 1236085 View attachment 1236101View attachment 1236109 Here is what we want!
Well no wonder I had such an issue with malpositioned chicks and pipping at the wrong end! I didn't even know there was such a thing, but some of my eggs definitely had high air cells. I wonder what causes them? Since my hatch was kind of an emergency situation some of my eggs were probably older than they should have been. Maybe that's the cause?

Here are some silkie, wyandottes, and maran eggs that are developing nicely! Everyone is flipping and I could even see the maran dancin about aswell. From the chart they have feathers and their beaks harden today! It’s day 10 for me.

I say I will candle on day 14 and once more on day 17 or 18 then lockdown. I have 13 that are all moving today and that’s outta 22 shipped eggs so I’m my opinion that’s not bad for first time hatching and also being shipped. I even have my scotch tape baby silkie egg growing beautifully. I feel I will name it scotch when it hatches hopefully.

I am going to candle on day 12 because day 14 they rotate in the egg to aim towards aircell, I don't want to mess with them while they are positioning themselves.
