Well from what I've heard is that they could be pale or they could be a deeper shade. I think it depends on whether your blue genes carrier in the cross is double blue or not. This will be a good way to test out my rooster to see if he carries double blue or single blue genes.

I have a splash Super Blue and she lays a lovely blue egg, OFTEN!! A little lighter shade than the CCL blue. I have just crossed her to my Marans, So maybe I will get some SBOE's - LOL (that's my made up name for my Super Blue Olive Eggers)

just candle my eggs out of seven eggs five are fertile yay i seen veins and i seen the chicks MOVING so happy that most are fertile one week to go and it is hatch time

I set my first ever eggs yesterday. I have 14 of them and I’m so excited for chicks! I hope everything goes well.

A quick question - I see you have an AcuRite thermometer in there as a well as what looks like a probe from an inbuilt thermomenter. Are they both reading the same?

A little of everything - LOL!!!! No, just a little joke. My breeds are definitely driven by egg colour, which is my obsession - when I look at my little egg basket, oh the joy of all of those different shades of yumminess!!! What I will advise, if you are going to continue to hatch regularly, is choose one or two breeds and breed them well - you can always make barnyard mixes but I think it's really awesome when we band together to keep the breed standard stock. How about silkies? They are the cutest things!

yes silkies are the cute but i cant have a hen go broody maybe i should get a little of every thing

They are both reading the same and i also have a meat thermometer that i have calibrated many times, which is also reading the same
Im actually planning on my next batch and im only on day 3 of this one! i can see how this could be come an absolute addiction very easily.

welcome to the hatch a long you set your eggs just about when i set my eggs mine are do the 21st when are yours do this is also my first time incubating im gonna go in to lock down on the 18th cant wait but just like you said it is going to drive me crazy but i hope your hatch goes well good luck

I have been hatching by the old farmers almanac and also set my eggs on dec 31st. Started with 44 pulled 7 clears and 3 blood rings on the 10th day so I still have 34 eggs in the bator. I am excited several of these babies are ftom my German bielefelder roo and a ee..... should be fun

Well Today is day 10, I had open up to put water in incubator, so since it was opened, I candled. 11 of my shipped eggs are doing great, I had 18 total sent, 5 were clears and 2 were blood ringed. I am more than happy with my eggs! they were samplers of 5 diff kinds of eggs, so far I still have every breed in the samples!
Of my own eggs, 3 are too dark to tell 6 are doing good! I started out with more, a lot were clear because my LO roosters were so young, but they got 6+ eggs fertilized so yeah them. It was a good thing I set so many eggs, because now the clears are gone and I have just the right amount.
All is good, I was getting worried I had too many birds, but now it will be just right. Sometimes chicken math evens it's self out.

That is AWESOME for shipped eggs!!! Yay you!!!!

Wow - that's interesting - I didn't think there was a Farmers Almanac for Chickens. That's awesome!
