welcome to the hatch a long you set your eggs just about when i set my eggs mine are do the 21st when are yours do this is also my first time incubating im gonna go in to lock down on the 18th cant wait but just like you said it is going to drive me crazy but i hope your hatch goes well good luck

Yay hatch buddies! Mine are due the 21st as well, though in my experience with eggs under hens, sometimes it takes a couple days for everyone in a batch to hatch out, so I’m guessing they should all be here by the 23rd or so. I’m going into lockdown on the 18th just like you. Only two days away!

Here are some photos. First few are of the blue egg. I also show that for lock down, I lay the egg half way between the high cell and the no cell area. Showing an other one with a pretty high cell. Turned the temp down a bit for lock down. I ha ent even taken a peek at my second batch I put on on Thursday. Wonder how those air cells look. :/ The thing about these eggs here too.. they stayed in the same state's P.O. for a day and a half at their sorting facility.

I have just purchased a breeding trio - BEEEEEEAAUUUUTIFUL!!! When they start laying (they're coming out of molt) I will have to send you some

Going on day 20 iv been hearing peeping since lock down but for the life of me can't see any chicks trying to hatch or which egg it driving me nuts

OH MY WORD!!!!! You've just reminded me that that can happen. Sometimes they peep in their eggs for what seems like an eternity!!!!!

Hey Scott214 - I have never hatched on the side, always in a turner (which is upright) so don't know the answer but I prefer upright just because it's my experience

I took this pic last night when I was candling, but then I put back 3 of the eggs so 3 are not in the pic that are due the 25th. top row ebay eggs,bottom row are mine. Most of the clears i had to remove were mine. I only count the hatch percentage after all clears are removed.View attachment 1237212 below is a separate hatch due the 4th (all from my own coop)+ the extra three I was not sure about...the ones due the 25th.

Since the below eggs were collected after activity of my LO roosters they should be fertile.View attachment 1237219

I'm a bit late to the party, but as my eggs were set on Jan. 1, I'd love to join in! Incubating 5 bantam mix eggs. We have Silkie, Cochin, D'uccle and Japanese hens, but the eggs look like they came from several of the cochin girls, or *maybe* a silkie- too large for the littler girls.

This is my first time hatching with an incubator- was given a MagicFly/Janoel for Christmas from my chicken-loving father-in-law. All 5 eggs are developing nicely. I, on the other hand, am driving myself crazy checking the temp and humidity every ten seconds and taking careful notes on each egg! I'm already dreading how lock down will drive me crazy. On the upside, my birthday is on the 23rd, so if all goes well, I should have some adorable fluffy little newcomers just in time!

They are both reading the same and i also have a meat thermometer that i have calibrated many times, which is also reading the same
Im actually planning on my next batch and im only on day 3 of this one! i can see how this could be come an absolute addiction very easily.

That's awesome that you can trust the AcuRite - I just LOVE the big display - it makes it SO much easier!!!
