Wow - that's interesting - I didn't think there was a Farmers Almanac for Chickens. That's awesome!
lol I guess I didn't explain very well.. .. you can use the old farmers almanac for many things, you can look for the favorable days to plant you garden, castrate calves or pigs and find favorable hatch dates for you chicks..... I don't fully understand it but chicks hatched on favorable days by the moon have better growth rates and seem to thrive better. There is an old thread about hatching by the moon but it has little activity now.

Yay hatch buddies! Mine are due the 21st as well, though in my experience with eggs under hens, sometimes it takes a couple days for everyone in a batch to hatch out, so I’m guessing they should all be here by the 23rd or so. I’m going into lockdown on the 18th just like you. Only two days away!
yes i cant wait tell lock down we will be posting photos of our chicks at the same time lol good luck with your hatch :highfive:

Here is my plan... on the 22nd I will candle for lockdown, I have been told to take down the metal egg holding dividers, so they don't get caught in them. My incubator is only 1/2 full, and is divided in 2 sections, so when I candle I will put the advanced developed eggs on one side, (ones that look like they may hatch first,) and ones that look like they need more time on the other, (so eggs till not get kicked around during hatch.)

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!! Look at your little Super Blues!!!!! Oh yay yay YAY!!!! :wee:ya:celebrate:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

I'm so excited to see how they turn out! And see how many pullets and cockerels I have. They're all still doing well despite the cold temps here. They're in my shed but have a lamp very close and have towels covering to make sure the warm air stays in.
