View attachment 1240254 View attachment 1240255This is the Wyandottes and they don’t go all the way yet. View attachment 1240256And here is my marans. Today was day 14 and they look really developed. My temp has been varying from 100-102 the whole time.

In the silkies you can see a foot and it’s the actual size of a chicks foot it’s crazy to me! Also what should I do about lockdown and also the taped egg?
did anyone have any answers about my silkies hatching too early or is this about right? Also when to take the tape off the egg. Thank you

I'd stop turning on day 16 to give them plenty of time to orient themselves for pipping, even if they're a little early. Having the humidity around 65 shouldn't hurt them for a couple more days so I'd go ahead and raise it. If on day 18 you don't have any pips then I'm sure it would be fine to candle. Is the tape on part of the air cell? If not I'd leave it on.

The tape is on the edge of the air cell so it worries me. So on day 16 stop turning and raise the humidity? Also if I do get silkies hatching on day 18 or 19 would I take them out cause it could be a while for the others to hatch? And also would that mess it up? I would for sure add more warm water and also I am already planning on having a wet towel placed in.

I've had 1 bantam hatch on day 19 because the temps ran high. It was the first chick I'd ever hatch.

I hatched 8 bantam Cochins on day 21. Temps were spot on that time.

I think the advice to lock down a couple of days early is solid. Won't hurt them at all but they might benefit. Getting close. You must be thrilled!

Different people have different opinions on opening the incubator on lockdown. I personally open mine to remove dry chicks so they don't disturb the other eggs too much. Opening the bator to remove chicks shouldn't hurt in my opinion. I highly recommend adding water to channels, re-wetting towel/sponge and misting when you open anyway. Misting REALLY helps raise humidity quickly. I'd leave the tape on unless the chick pips into it or starts to zip into it and is having trouble. But I've never dealt with hatching cracked eggs so maybe someone else will have more experience.
