....so now we have added another 12 eggs to the incubator this morning....
8 Light Brahma/Barred Rock
4 Light Brahma/Light Brahma

all told their are 21 eggs in the incubator now, the first 9 will be moved to a Brower 846 for hatching on the 24th.
and by then I will have figured the incubator out (I hope)
then then next 12 will be moved on 31st.

so I will have the incubator ready for any others I decide to try to hatch. (lol)

I found another bad egg last night so now am down to 11 FBCMs to lockdown tomorrow morning. Bater smells completely normal now so must of got all the bad ones out.

Here's a photo of my babies from my Jan 8th hatch of 7 BBS Marans and 6 BBS Ameracaunas

I am late to the hatch-a-long!

I'm doing my very first hatch in an older Hovabator with 24 ebay eggs that I put in on the 5th. I have NO expectations for this -- January, Ebay, a long shipping distance, AND my first hatch. I figure if I get two or three chicks I'll be way ahead. WAY ahead.

I candled yesterday at day 9 and I've got 16 definite squirmy embryos, plus a couple eggs that are so dark I can't really tell.

EEEEEEEE IT'S SO EXCITING

Hey you never know. If you're seeing something that is a good sign. I had eggs from NY and MD shipped to FL in Dec and had 76% hatch. Wish it was more but I am happy with what I got. I bet some of yours hatch too.

Are those marbles in the water dish? What do they help with? Just curious. Maybe something I will try if needed...

The marbles keep the babies from drowning. They are drawn to water their first few days of life and can drown in even a shallow dish. The marbles allow them to drink in the the spaces between but not drown. They can be taken out at about a week old.

Thank you. Yes, they are to keep them from drowning. I looked everywhere for marbles...walmart, kmart, dollar store etc I couldn't find any. I ended up using those glass pebbles that you put in vases from the craft store. They do look like marbles though. I hope they are okay for them, I cleaned them first before I put them in.
