oh oh can i be in too? ive got 6 eggs under my Button Quail hen does that count? hatch date should be approx 24th..

I have 34 in the hatcher (-6 that have hatched, 5 surviving) and 30 and 24 more in the incubator that are set for rolling hatches in January. My 34 and 30 are all from my own birds, and 24 Dominiques that were hand carried from Michigan.

Of the 6 that have hatched, one was a Delaware (fatality) and 3 are from my little mixed crested bantam hen by a dark brahma bantam roo, one is a white cochin bantam and one is a buff orpington cross! I had 20 some eggs marked and prepared to set, and then I got tired of putting eggs in the fridge so added a dozen of whatever was laid that day....guessing is fun! Except for the Del, all of these (early) hatchers are from the random dozen.

I set 46 shipped silkie eggs last night at 7:00 pm and the temp was back to 99.5 at 9:30 pm! Out of the 46, 35 of them looked good when I candled. Several with detached air cells are not in the turner but sitting small end down for a couple more days to give them a chance to settle. Some looked like the yolk was scrambled but I will give it a chance in case I didn't see what I thought I saw.

So I have have my math right, lockdown will be on the evening of the 26th with day 21 the evening of the 28th.

Can I join in? I set 3 dozen of my own eggs last night because I miss spring! There are 4 EE eggs then a bunch of ones from my red sex-link girls with a black copper maran over them. A few banty eggs and then some from my cuckoo maran and her daughter who is a cross of cuckoo and black copper. I have people who have already asked for point of lay hens in the spring so I hope these all hatch hens and then if I sell them at $10 per - the chickens have earned their food for the summer

I set 14 FBCM eggs early morning on Jan. 1st. So my hatch date is Jan 21st!! I candled a couple last night just on a whim and one had a dark area with a black spot that I could tell was moving!!

yay! The other one was as clear as could be.

I am going to number each egg and candle them all Sunday night.
