I have 5 babies hatched and running around in the hatcher, and 17 more to go. There are a bunch pipped. The hatchlings are 1 Ameracauna, 1 Delaware, and 3 Dominiques. Congrats to everyone hatching!

Congrats!! So exciting!!

Lockdown is today for me and I am nervous!

blessedchickenmama7: Yeah, lockdown! That's when I start to relax after candling one more time, then get excited again for the next 3 or so days. Best wishes to you & your hatch.

Hey guys I've been a lazy poster. Anyway, lockdown is Monday. I candled and pulled 4 eggs the other day. One was from the backyard, a rock x orp. Three were from the 16 shipped buff orp eggs. So now I have 13 shipped eggs going strong and 5 mutts from the backyard. Can't wait to see those. Two are red sex link x buff orp and the rest ( I think) are rock x orp. But one could be a faverolles x or glw x we didn't get to see who laid one of them. We just took all the eggs from the day and put them in.

Cograts on all those chickies everyone!

We have a chick!
She (per my homemade magnet-on-a-string pendulum) is dark, so not the lavender I hoped for, but healthy, and so far tolerating being a singleton.
15 of 16 clear (maybe 3 had blood rings) is pretty bad odds, I guess I'm lucky this one lived. No more winter shipped eggs!
The air cell was on the side of the egg, so that being loose didn't stop her.

I did what CJ said, and let them rest for 30 hours before starting the bator, then left the turner off the first 3 days.
Pic eventually

txmel: Beautiful little butterballs! Now you have an early start on the year with a few pullets hopefully.

Laurieks: Thank goodness for the one chickie! My last batch of shipped eggs have several loose air cells & dbl air cells too, as seen by candling upon arrival to set upright in carton; let them settle about 7 1/2 hrs. Out of 16 it looks like 4 are ready for lockdown tomorrow. These eggs have been quite fertile in the past, must have been the "scrambles eggs" shipping for me. Just started another shipped batch, not giving up. Yeah, for your chick!

Hi save the faves, There are at least 3 threads going for mid Feb now. Three started the day I posted that my eggs came. I had 2 hatch-buddies. We have since joined another group of newbies and took Speckled hen along to "mother hen" us

[https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=287826] There is a thread called 'Valentines Day Hatch!!!', and and one called 'Eggs are Here' - Orphy & another 'Eggs are here :)Paganbirds and MagsC's hatching thread!!'

I think there may even be a couple more. I don't know how to get everybody together - maybe you can??
