Good message Walks.
Well this morning I thought I would have at least one quail wandering around the bator. I have lots of pips but no one wants to zip first I guess. I bet when I go home today, a bunch will have hatched. At least I hope so!

GOOD MORNING HATCHERS!

I woke up this morning to three babies, two nearly dry (brahmas! fuzzy feets!) and one wet barred rock stumbling around like a drunk.

The three babies have pushed all the other eggs all around but it looks like I have one other pip and an a wiggly egg.

Is a slow hatch OK, or does it indicate I did something wrong along the way?

Also, my bared rock has bits of shell stuck (upside down) to her (his?) back, and some yolk/placenta hanging from her butt. Is this just part of the hatching and it'll come off as she dries? I didn't see the other two dry so I don't know the process.

I guess I'm in for another day of NO SELF CONTROL, must go check the bator every ten minutes.

My eggs went on lockdown last night!

I started with 46 and after 3 candlings and tossing out the clear ones and the quitters I locked down with 26 silkies. Of those 26 five don't look very promising, but I left them in just in case.

As I was moving them out of the turner into egg cartons (trimmed) for hatching, I could feel a couple of them move! I also saw movement during the pre- lockdown candling!

I can't wait to start seeing pips and zips! It is going to be a long couple of days.

I finally got mine all locked down this morning at 10:30.
Wishing everyone good hatch vibes...come-on chickies !!!!

Well I came home to one egg zipped, but not out and another one pipped. Working on the brooder tonight. They are both banty eggs and it looks like the zipped one is blue or black, we shall see if it has a naked neck soon.

Yay!!!!

My other silkie chicks are now 7 weeks old and filling out nicely, they are still following mummy hen around everywhere and trying to fit under her wing (that's funny to watch)
