Hatch rate only 30% because of the cold weather?I've been having great hatch rates.Granted I'm not in PA,however our weather has been unuasually cold here this winter. Most days have not been over 45-50 and too many lately have been in the teens and low 20's.I locked down 586 Jumbo XLDs,30 Jumbo Texas A&M,and 20 Italians.I hatched 573 out, lost 1.What is her M/F ratio? Housing? Lighting? Mine are under a tarped barn natural light during the day and only lights from brooders next pen over after dark.1m/3f on all but the Italians.I only started with a trio of those, but have hatched out many from them to add.
my chicks that hatched out a couple weeks ago did great!!! i had a great hatch rate! and my eggs shipped during december AND during the holiday package rush! crazy for me to order eggs during that time! what was i thinking??? but they did awesome!!!

You didn't get the memo? Those MFCs are going to get shipped to my address and you get the bill.
MINE!
Hey, make ya a deal.....if you don't have any by the time these are making thier own eggies (providing I get at least a pair) I will send you some!
I have got 2 breeders lined up for some eggs. But we shall see. Maybe trade some eggs. I am looking into getting my NPIP this spring.
Now who wants to see chicks? Here are the 2 hatched yesterday. When I woke up this morning I had 2 more waiting. So all 5 of my eggs hatched with 4 making it.
All this hatching congradulations everyone hatching,I can't wait for mine to start.Im down to 3 eggs on my first batch for this year.
Im saving up eggs for another hatch, the girls are starting to pick up now.
I did catch my split lavender Orpington roo on one of the split lavender Orpington hens, then the Speckled Sussex roo went after him.
so I realy should have some interesting chicks in the next batch.

I will be honest, her females looked like they really needed a break...Probably a better guess for the 30% hatch rate than the temps and even though she was a breeder I could tell she wasn't all that knowledgeable about incubating. Hopefully I get a better hatch. Who knows I have not been involved with incubating Quail for about 20 years. All I know is that the incubator temps and humidity have been steady. Hopefully I get a good hatch in a few days.
