Up until a week ago i had 9 japanese, 4 white and 6 birchen. a mink got in and killed 4 white and 3 birchen. i am left with a trio of birchen. I have one birchen pullet i can add to the group and hopefully re-build next summer. It was very sad to loose so many at one time, had i not heard the mink and went out in the middle of the night i would have no doubt lost them all.

here are the remaining trio. the rooster is just over a year and is moulting, lost all his beautiful long tail feathers already.

me too! My good roo's tail looks silly without his big sickle feathers!

on another note... I had an idea, you know chicken aprons? Well do any of you think it's possible to make some kind of wing covering to protect their wings from getting messed up on bottom? I was thinking of trying to design something like this for the Japs to where in prep for show. Seems like no matter what kind of bottom they have on a cage their wings still get frazzled from dragging the ground and poop and dirt. What do you guys think? do you think it would be possible?
