Japanese Bantam Thread!

Does anyone here have any tips on sexing japanese bantam chicks around five weeks old?

Yes; in two more weeks, some of the roos will begin to crow. The more familiar you become with raising bantams, you'll notice certain feathering, conformation, comb and wattle growth are different between pullets and roos.

Thank you. I have two chicks hatched under a broody. first time having japanese, so am very curious

I'm not much on the color variations, but I think the roo dominates the color, and more so on the chick pullets. I stand to be corrected however.

A good type must have the short legs, high almost verticle tail and nice long wings
