Japanese Bantam Thread!

Going to be so hard deciding between these two btw boys. But I have someone who’d like to trade me some nice pullets for one...

So my poor btw cockerel nicked the tail end of his big comb and got blood everywhere. He’s soaked his hackles and face, not to mention the coop. Any tips on getting the stains out of his white feathers? A damp rag got a good deal off, but he still looks terrible with it streaked all over and crusted around his face. :(

After 9 years of keeping chickens I have recently made the big switch from standard sized chickens to Bantams. Mine are just under 4 months old. Loving them! So much more fun to be around and watch... for hours... housework? What's that?

I have a question: When can I tell if I have any males in my Black tailed buff Japanese bantams?

They came straight run and I have 6. Odds are in my favor but I haven't a clue about when/age I should be able to tell the difference.

Thank you for your advice!

I have been able to distinguish males from less then 6 weeks old. They really start to grow those big combs early and put on huge tail growth. Got any pictures?

This is my 5 month old buff pair—
