Japanese Bantam Thread!

Thanks guys. This one was a commissioned peice for chrisf in new york. But I really enjoyed doing it! I had mottled japanese bantams last year and they were so beautiful!

Do all japs lay the same colored eggs?

I believe they are supposed to be a cream colored egg.

but my mottled lay more of an off whitish color and my blacktailed buffs lay more of a tinted egg not brown but dark cream color.

It's been a while since I've posted! I was wondering... would my japanese bantam cockerel have a chance at being dominant over a standard sized barred rock cockerel?

So jap roos aren't aggressive?

i think aggressiveness would depend on the rooster. I have a few that the hens are more aggressive than the roo. and i have one that will jump and crow etc at you.
I have all mine penned by color.

Right - it depends on the individual chicken. My Japanese cocks just happen to be unaggressive. The hens are much more "assertive" though.
