umm do the hens tend to have a larger comb than other breeds .. i was looking at some pics & they seem to.. i have 2 & one has crowed the other hasnt its comb is just a little bit smaller than the crowing one

I have 4 Japanese hens and none have large combs at all.....not even close.

No, they tend to have a very small comb.

I agree, I have 2 hens and 2 roos and you can definitly tell the difference. My hens hardly have a comb and my roos are bright red. They are only about 10 weeks old now. This is a picture when they were younger but you can still tell, the roo in the front.
