I see lots of ways to trap Japanese Beetles (I have billions and billions) and then feed them to chickens. Some suggest instead of just letting them accumulate in a bag or other device, to let them drop into a pan with soapy water (to keep them from flying away?) and then the chickens can eat them ass they float. I want to make sure that exposing the chickens to soapy water will not be harmful to them as mine seem to drink the plain water as they enjoy the beetles floating around.
How many are doing something like this?
I will cross post this in hopes of getting quick responses.

You might look at this Dr. BRONNER. It's assorted fruit and nut oils with some Lye. Safe for Human and Pet use. The soap is only needed to break the Surface Tension of the water. Many insects can walk across the surface tension. But A DROP of soap breaks the tension and the bugs drown. You will likely eat more Lye at a Bagel Shop or Chinese Noodle Shop than the beetle will absorb...JJ
