So I emptied the full bag of Japanese beetles in front of 15 hens - they proceed to look at me like I was nuts and walked away

I had to step on every single beetle and kill them

My chickens are actually disappointed when beetle season is over! I fill a margarine container half full with water- walk around the property and put the beetles in. They swim and swim- and when the container is so full, they are climbing on top of each other- I deliver to the chickens. Yummy! They love them, and the fact that they are moving (swimming) really attracts them!

Great! I guess the girls will get a nice cool 4th of July beetle treat today. We have 2 1 gallon freezer bags full of beetles in the freezer. Kind of gross. But hey it's for my girls!!!
