I am thinking about getting japanese quail, I have all ready got chinese quail how big dose thier cage have to be,how big do they grow and shall I feed them the same food, will they lay eggs? Thanks

It should be one square foot of space per bird and thats the minimum. In my experience bigger is always better. Remember if you plan on keeping more than one male then you need a bigger space. You should keep one male to every 6 hens and make sure they have plenty of hiding places. Japanese quail are known feed wasters so you need to think about that. If you are feeding your Chinese quail, I am going to assume they are button quail, a game bird feed that has 20% protein or higher then yes you can feed the japanese quail that. If your not, you need to switch both quail species to game bird feed. Japanese quail are really good egg layers so you should supply them with oyster shells as free choice.
