In an effort to prepare our GSD "son" Jax for the upcoming arrival of his baby brother, we have had to resort to playdates to get him dog socialized.
Our farm is very isolated and it's not often possible for us to travel the distance to the Petsmart where he may or may not meet other dogs, assuming there are other dogs present when we are there.
First he met DSD's spayed two year old female and they played well, once she set Jax straight about who was in charge.
Next he met the county's drug dog, a two year old male lab and they had a blast. It was hard to seperate them when the time came for us to leave.
Today he met another one of DSD's dogs, Ben, a three year old pit/hound mix. They played until Jax was almost falling over from exhaustion. Jax had a hard time understanding that not every dog has his puppy energy. Now Ben is outside (he's not housebroken) and Jax is begging to go out every five minutes to visit with his new friend.
