The main keys to surviving excessive heat are good coop ventilation, shade, plenty of fresh water, and the right breeds of chickens (heat ressistant ones). I raised Black Australorps in the northern Sacramento Valley where summer temperatures frequently reached 117-118 F (123F once) and they did just fine in spite of the heat.
