Jealous dog vs. chicks again

That is an absolutely gorgeous collie!

But I wouldn't say let the dog get as close as she wants to be.
I'd say let her get as close as YOU want her to be.
Remember that you're the boss, she's just the dog!

One thing you need to remember is that you have a Labrador Retriever. They are bred to hunt and retrieve birds. Generally even with training some sporting breeds just carry to much of the hunting drive to consider safe with birds without person supervision. I have a Chocolate Lab, 7 yrs old, couch potato, who doesn't bark unless something is wrong, doesn't dig, doesn't like water and has never hunted in her life but let her hear a duck on a hunting show and the ears perk up and she is looking for one. She likes our chicks and watches them when they are outside in their coop. One had already pecked her nose when she got to close to the fencing and she wasn't much interested after that but I still watch her like a hawk. i wish you all the luck in the world to getting your dog trained to do what you want.

My uncle and I will alternate letting the chickens out, he lives on the farm. I just spend most of my time there. This also goes for my brother and dad, they are usually there because we run a farming operation.

I just want tips on how to gain trust with her and help her understand they're all my babies.

My dog definitely likes to make us happy, she's smart and well-trained, but she is a spoiled princess.

I suppose I'll just have to keep getting them together and let my dog know that they're mine or ours and hope for the best.
