Jenny Craig? Nutrisystem?

I think those kind of plans are excellent if you have troubles with portion control. My wife and I both lost a lot of weight when I stopped cooking dinner on weeknights and substituted a Lean Cuisine dinner. We have done a pretty good job keeping it off but we still eat them most weeknights.

If you follow my diet you will lose weight. I don't claim it's particularly healthy but I lost a 120 pounds on it over a two year period and it hasn't killed me yet.

Breakfast. One of those six packs of peanut butter crackers.
Lunch. Ham or turkey sandwich and one of the mini bags of chips like you would buy for a kids lunch. Sandwich not to exceed 300 calories.
Dinner. Lean Cuisine frozen dinner, 260-320 calories, 150-200 calorie portion of bread.

That's about 1,200 calories. I'm 6'2" tall and weighed 320 pounds when I started. Lost down to about 200 pounds and have gained back to 210 this summer from wanting to cook garden produce.

On the weekends we cook and eat out but try to not eat crazy like we used to.

If you do decide to try some kind of prepared meal plan, take it out of the container it comes in and put it on a nice plate. It really will help your attitude.

I hate frozen foods, so I don't think I'd like Nutrisystem or JC food.

I lost 60lbs just by counting calories. I don't eat low-fat or diet anything, I just count the calories and make adjustments. You do have to have a plan, go grocery shopping and know what you plan to eat. Like Gritty said, keep foods you know you can eat handy for when you're too hungry to think.

Some of my favorites:
Fiber One cereals
Wheat bread
Sandwich fixins
Fresh fruit and veggies
Nuts
Wheat Thins

My most favorite meal to eat out is Applebees Sirloin with Garlic Shrimp for 500 calories. Yum!

I downloaded this app for my ipod, but there's a website too www.myfitnesspal.com I just enter what I ate and it does all the calculations for me. I have 20 pounds to go! Good luck - you CAN do it!

I started weight wathers in June. LOVE it!!! I've lost 15 pounds so far. I'm just doing online and using their iphone app. It's more about changing how you eat on your own because nothing is prepackaged. I tried Nutrasystem a while back with no results at all

You guys are so awesome

I'm getting excited knowing that I just made a life changing decision. I think portion control is a biggy for me because I don't stop when I'm full especially if it's something that I absolutely love. I'm an eater. It's one of my joys in life. Sad I know.

Alrighty here we go

I hear you. I'm a REALLY good cook and I love to make good food, but I didn't want to be fat anymore. Once you make the decision to lose weight, that's the biggest part of the battle. You have to want it. I have a weak spot for desserts, so I went sugar free and cut all refined sugar from my diet. Whenever I was craving something sweet, I'd eat applesauce or fresh fruit. It really helps and I feel better, too!

You have alot of good advice here. I can offer you one thing I found that works wonders for me. Activia Desserts blueberry cheesecake yogurt. OMG that stuff tastes like a cheesecake. I don;t like to eat early either, so I have one of those and it starts my day off perfectly!!
