That could be you best and only safe experience with a bull of any breed!!! One of our oxen (a steer, 2800 lbs.) threatened me once in pasture, and fortunately backed off when I threatened him back. Or I wouldn't still be here! Mary

I believe it, after reading all the stories online. I know down the line, I would like to keep some cattle for beef, but I don't think I will keep a bull. But still, back to standard size jerseys... doesn't anyone sell those anymore?

Yeah, but when I click on a link, each farm seems to only sell minis... Oh well, I'm sure I'll stumble across a selling at some point

I think a lot of people are selling mini animals now because it's more appealing for small homesteaders/farms and people on smaller lots. Like the people that keeo cows, gardens, etc. On an acre or less or even like 5 and under acres, etc. There's a LOT of smaller farms and homesteads now and so I think the smaller animals appeal more because they take up less space and eat less, etc. But I'm sure they wouldn't let the breed die out so I'm sure there is someone out there!

Try looking to a bordering state also. Sometimes we must drive for things we want. .

I've noticed! Researching all the animals I would eventually like to have on my farm has been fun and interesting... and driving has been noted. Almost every animal I'm interested in has to either be delivered or I must drive to obtain... sigh

A word to the wise.... do not try gettin everything all at once! Get one and get comfortable workin with and dealin with that then add another. Too much new and you WILL get overwhelmed.

I couldn't do that, even if I wanted to. I already know that I'm going to start with ducks and chickens. I already have 3 beehives. But before I purchase my ducks and chickens, I need land. Then, I'll proceed from there. I even know which duck and chicken breeds I want, 2 duck breeds and 2 chicken breeds. I figured that would be a safe place to start.
