With my first batch of Jersey Giants safely in their incubator I am stuck deciding on their starter. I want to go as organic as possible but when I do try to search for organic starter, I am confronted with the question of using Soy or not. I am also curious about JG's need for extra protein because they are such a large breed and spend more time building their bones before fleshing out.
I am thinking of Modesto Milling starter that has a 22% protein ratio with soy.
I hear marvelous things about Countryside Naturals organic No Soy starter with 19% protein.
Either way, I will have to spend $$ for shipping and I am OK with that, but what about the protein %?
Do you use soy? What is the controversy about using soy in feed? Don't get me started on medicated feed since that is the next hurdle I will have to jump through.
Thanks!
