HI heybarb,I have a Jersey Giant rooster with my 3 standard and 2 bantam hens. He is the sweetest guy. Super nice to the girls, to my kids and to me. We love Duke!! Plus he's a great protector! We haven't lost a chicken to a hawk since we got him. He is a diligent protector, always keeping his eye on the sky and giving the girls time to hide if he sees something suspicious.
Mine had just a couple of tips that were white when they were younger and now they are gone. They are all black. With the most beautiful sheen to their feather's. Now more than before their feather's shine so pretty, my husband made mention of it today. I am thinking it is the fermented feed I have been feeding them. It has really made a difference in the way they look.
HI heybarb,
I have five Jersey Giants, At what age did you rooster start looking like a rooster ? Mine are about 13 weeks old now and they just look like pullet's to me. But this is my first batch of chickens. So this is all new to me. I do have one that run's over to check on everything and sometimes raise's it 's feather around it's neck at a couple of other chicken breeds that I have.
Any suggestion's would be appreciated.
Thanks
