Jersey Giant Pics PLEASE!!!

This is Bart - he's supposed to be a JG, but he must be a mix because of all his colors. I don't care what he is, he is absolutely beautiful! He hatched Christmas day and is a pretty big boy.

Did he start out a similar size to the other breeds?

Yea, for the most part. The JGs were a little bit bigger by 4-6 wks, but it wasn't until he was 10-12 weeks old that you could really see his size.

This is him at 10 weeks old. The other two black ones are JG hens (now about 9-10 lbs each), the white one is a Delaware roo and the black and white one is a Java roo....all the same age. The hens are now bigger than our salmon Faverolle roo and Andre, the JG roo, towers over everyone!

I'm sorry but those look like Australorps to me. Without the yellow skin, it's almost impossible to tell the difference between hatchery Australorps and hatchery Jersey Giants.

Jersey Giants have yellow skin, which shows on the bottom of their feet. Australorps and Orpingtons have white which show on the bottom of their skin as well as on their beaks. Now, it's certainly plausible that the hatchery workers couldn't tell the difference and put Australorp hens in with Jersey Giant males or vice versa, but sometimes hatcheries just don't give a darn either way.

THeir JGs. I double checked and the bottom of their feet are yellow. The rason why the pics look like their feet have white is because we live in the desert with fine silts and clays, so they all have a thin coating of dust. Everything gets coated! Gotta love the desert!

Once it is washed off, you can see the yellow.

does anybody have pics of some of Schultz's (BYC member) Jerseys. I got some hatching eggs from them and have 6 birds, 3 pullets and 3 cockerals. They are about 3 or 4 months, I'd have to check paperwork at home.

I see what you mean. After looking at the bird with the yellow legs in front, you can look at the bottom of that one's feet and wouldn't even know it had yellow legs if you were just looking at the bottom! lol! How weird is that!!
