Hello! Does anyone know if Jersey Giants are a good show bird for beginners? Easy to handle, calm, etc.? I am getting SQ hatching eggs from Ebay to start my showing 'career' (I only have hatchery/home-bred birds right now) and I am thinking I'd really like to start out with them. I know they will be somewhat difficult to move around and hold just because they are so large, but I couldn't seem to find any bantams and since I ultimately want to breed show-quality Malays someday, I suppose it'll be better to get used to carrying around giant, 8+ pound birds now instead of later.
Also, should I use a rooster or hen for a show bird? Will one be better than the other?
