Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

I've noticed that things right in front of his beak he misses. BUT, when he can step back and aim from a distance he can do it.

Loving all the pics on here! I should be getting my eggs from Wynette tomorrow! I'm very excited and hope I'll be posting some JG chick pics on here soon!!!

AND, DW mentioned before we got there that we don't need any more chickens after the JG's. Once on the road she mentions how pretty she thinks Kathys Silkie was and she likes her breeding project with it. Translation: get me silkies.

It was a pleasure to meet Kathy and see her madness, er, flock. Thanks for the quick tour!!

TomH .... It was a pleasure to meet you. I sure hope you and your wife come again! We will have to make it a weekend, when DH is here and can BBQ for us!

I think that sweet wife of yours could easily be convinced that she would like more chickens!

Ummm....I'm embarrassed to admit this....someone PMd me asking for 7 JG hatching eggs, and I can't find the PM.

Please send me another one if you're on this thread!

SORRY!

Hennypenny

I have a roo the exact same way! He is just as big and healthy as all of the rest. He is also one of my sweetest roos! I don't know if it is genetic or if it's just a flaw in sight. He does great in everything except getting the single pieces of feed or treats. I always take extra time to be sure he gets a fair amount. Some times I will let him get treats first while my hand or bowl is full. Then give it out to the rest of the flock. (maybe why he's so sweet!) LOL Just one of those things I guess.

Good luck and God Bless!

Is his beak long? My guy has a long beak. I was actually thinking about trimming it to see if that helped him. He's doing fine so as long as he's got a pile to pick from he's good.

nope. He is totally the same as all of the rest of his flock mates. He just misses single items by about 1/8 of an inch. I think maybe his eyes just can't focus that close. I really don't know. But he is doing great. I feed free choice from a 5 gallon bucket feeder I made. He is just as fat and happy as all of the others so I am not really worried about him. I just wondered if it was going to be a problem. So far it's only affecting his treats. LOL I just make sure he gets his first.
If yours is alot longer than normal It may help? I really don't know! Wish I could offer more help.

God Bless!
