Spice, that's normal hen behavior. She was just reinforcing her position in the "flock." I wouldn't worry about that at all. It sounds like you give them plenty of time out and really good quality treats; I do not believe this is aggression whatsoever. Even when they have their pecking order established, they still reinforce it often - several times a day, in fact.

Just a quick word of warning; it's not a good idea to flip them upside down for very long...just FYI.

Okay. Thanks for that about flipping her upside down. I'll stop doing that. And I know this is normal pecking order. IT'S SO DIFFICULT TO WATCH!!! Especially, when you just have two hens and are SOOOOO good to them. If anything, I'm guilty of spoiling them too much.

I know it's hard to watch. They'll peck at each other one second, and the next, they'll be roosting side by side!

the more things you give them to do, the happier they will be. I use the heck out of a triple sized suet feeder - I hang it from the top of the pen, and stuff it full with really good/nutritious treats such as dark, leafy greens (mustard greens, etc.) and hang it just at head height . They have to peck at it to get the goodies out, and it'll swing as they do so, making it more difficult. So, its' a good way to give them treats that they have to "work" for, which keeps them busier....more busy = less time to annoy each other.

I took a few pictures of my B/B/S Giants, too. Well, excluding the extra boys in the bachelor's pad.
The blue pullets have not started to lay yet. The black hens and 1 blue hen are great layers though. They are just finishing up with molting.

Wow Kathy. Some day I will have some. It seems all I have are cockerels. One has red leakage in his hackle and saddle feathers. (These were from BBS eggs) What breed was used to create the BBS? Could something be coming through there. This cockerel is a tank. He has a much wider back than his hatch mate. I showed pictures a while ago and he had the damaged wattle. I will not use either for breeding now since I don't want the red leakage unless the smaller one is just a late bloomer.

Good morning, Giant friends! We got our first flakes of snow here in SE Michigan this morning....sigh. I can't say I am a snow lover.

Anyway, I wanted to mention again that for those of you who have not joined the National Jersey Giant Club, it's a priceless resource and you really ought to strongly consider joining. Here's a link to the website: http://nationaljerseygiantclub.com/index.cfm/home

Is
everyone prepared for winter?

it is great!
Well as to being ready for winter. Yes I am now.
I work hard all summer canning stuff to hold us over.
My animals have been showing signs since sept that winter was not far off.
My horses have 2&3 inches of winter hair on them.
My birds are not to happy with me as this year I'm not( well hoping) using heat lamps.
On the 27* nights when I do the nightly check I get the stink eye at every coop.
