I was thinking in terms of an Egg

To be brief, She pretty much developed the breed of Jersey Giants in the White variety, as she raised Blacks and had a genetic
" sport " appear and from that , and with selective breeding came the Whites.

ChickwaanaB : Sure I would sell ya one, but as you see, I am in a place called Iowa..........

Would sure hate to ship a 12 lb Rooster........

Yep that's the smart way to go. It sure does save you

but just remember get more them the amount you really want. As most of us know the po is not always kind marked eggs or not.
Extra jg's are not hard to place - start with extra large eggs and most are sold before you finish what you were saying.
If you get some and I hope it works out for y'all please keep us posted on how they do.

jg chick pictures. I have set my first jg eggs to see if they are fertile. They are due on

day. I can't wait to see if they hatch. These will be for eating eggs / pets only I won't have better quality till next year or so. I have to do a very hard cull late this year or by spring 2013.
I also set some oel x jg ( roosters) I can wait to see what girls out of them will be like.

well, theres plenty of companies that sell JG's, I'll get eggs later I guess, got the incubator full now anyways, hafta wait till after Feb 14th before I can use it again, only holds 7.

I've ordered 8 baby girl JG's from mypetchicken, they will ship about a week after my hatch due date Feb 14th so all will be close in size and I should be able to put them together. 15 new birds here this year. The hard part will be deciding who to cull since the rest are all good layers now.
By mid August SIr Richard will have his OWN ladies and I have plans to divide the yard so the two Roos are in separate areas. If I have to also put up some visual barrier for awhile till he feels secure I will. So tired of seeing him all alone and pushed out of the action.
Eventually, when the two old labs die I will have that whole building for my chickens so will have added roost space and indoor area for bad weather. A girls gotta have a plan.

Oh I don't mind....It just freaked me out, cause I didn't remember posting that first comment when I saw it....I thought I had hit the sauce and forgot..

Haha, I was just watching my boy dance around the gils today, I like their deep chortle too.
Moonchild, your boy should be especially glad he doesn't live at MY house where there's zero tolerance for attack roosters. Especially with the Giants huge size, nope nope nope!

On another note, dh and I are going to the Stockton show this wkd, just as spectators. It will be the largest show we've ever attended and can't wait to see all the gorgeous poultry.
