Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

ok I posted this a while back so this is an UP DATE !!

While cleaning the chick pen in the garage this past weekend I ask my boys about the smaller black chicks in the pen. I just could not under stand how the other JG were so much larger (a lot larger) than these two. So my youngest proceeded to tell me that he wanted to see if his BLACK WYANDOTTE BANTAMS would hatch. So he put some of their eggs in the bator with Wynette's JG eggs and our Brahma bantams.
A breeder at one of the shows gave Dyllin the pair of Wyandotte to see how well they would do for him. Got to love those breeders trying to encourage younger lovers of their breed!!!!
So the smaller chicks are Black Wyandotte Bantams.
WOOT!!!! I'm SOO glad this was the case, as I was completely perplexed by that one - HA! (yeah, laugh at me all you want, Karen...glad I could help provide a smile!

Thanks for letting us know - I surely appreciate it!

Sorry I haven't been on much in the last few weeks, friends - I go "offline" toward the end of December each year and don't get on the computer unless it's practically an emergency. It's alwasy a much needed break, but I ALWAYS miss my BYC buddies! Hope you all had a FANTASTIC holiday break - are you putting together your breeding pens yet?

hey Wynette. You seem to be just the person I need. Would you please give me your opinion on this rooster. He was sold to as a blue coper marans. I bought him "sight unseen" yea I know. When I got home, I thought he was just a blue marans. Well he grew and gre and grew and I knew he was not a marans at all. did some research, and figured out he was a big ole blue Jersey giant. here arre some pics. I was not planning to raise blue Jerseys but I just might get some hens for him.. Any and all advise would be welcome

He looks like a chunky boy! Does he have yellow feet bottoms? Don't know if marans have yellow feet or not though.

and @ 4-hmother, LOL! That's hilarious about the bantams!

I just felt like sharing another pic of my top boy! He's one of two boys and 8 months old now! He really needs to work on growing his feathers out. Not that snatching him up and ruffling him up helps the feather issue. LOL Wynette's stock makes for some chunky boys!

Im wondering if anyone knows of any good breeders near Delaware? Im looking to get some chicks or young poult and cockrels, this spring that my son can show in a year or so when they are grown a bit more. We have a big show evry summer at our local state fair and i would like for him to be able to show so chickens next year.
Im getting some eggs from birdnbeast and she suggested i look up wynette, which lead me here.

thanks for the imput. what about the lack of orange eyes? would that put him out of contention as a marans? I might go to that what breed is this section of byc as well. thanks everybody
