Interesting about the marigold extract. I agree completely Shane. I have been supplementing corn, along with an all-purpose poultry feed, to the birds I have separated to show. They're showing nice yellow on their pads, though the one that's laying is certainly lighter. The breeder pens don't get as much corn, just as a treat, and their color is less. Still there but have to rub feet on a couple of them to see definite yellow. And it seems slightly less significant on the blues as opposed to the blacks. I also give some leafy alfalfa hay that they enjoy scratching around and nibbling.This is a problem I had when i started with Giants. The SOP says that "complete absence of yellow" is a disqualification. "pad color" . They had been on purina flockraiser w/ marigold extract (for yellow yolks and skin....ie it helps brighten yellow pad color. It will NOT turn white feet yellow) I would like to hear others input and experiences. SHANE.
