Kathy, I received a package of beautifully wrapped gorgeous eggs today. I can't get over the color of the eggs, it's beautiful! The color is so beautiful I've decided not to incubate them , just blow out the yolk and make ornaments from them.

Just kidding. The eggs are great. I did, however, manage to break one while opening the packaging. I'm devastated killing an eggy baby.

But I am sure to have a wonderful hatch! They just went into the bator.

Kathy I hatched out my first jersey eggs from my own flock I just did it to test fertility. I had 7 hatch 2 blues and 5 splash. Seems like old Mctavish has been busy. Put another 17 giants in again I am hoping for some more blues. But I know they are fertile now I did notice that the giants took an extra day to hatch compared to the other eggs. It was the same when my daughter hatched some as well. I dont know if that is because the chicks are so much bigger but it might be worth while mentioning in case someone is ready to toss or turn of the bator before they all hatch. I havent had any hatch with wattles but I did have one hatch with a small comb. I am assuming its a roo as well lol

I have Black Jersey Giants and they're not laying yet. They're about 8 months old but I noticed that my hens are just starting to get red combs.

I really want some White Jersey Giants. I just think they look stunning. Now I have to find someone that has the Whites.

Here are my 2 Jersey Giant Chicks I got from a breeder.

They were both $3.00 each. With a total of $6.00 dollars for both of them. Not too bad.

They are kind of spoiled!

They get boiled egg or scrambed eggs everyday. Or both. They are starting to eat grass now and grass seeds, and bugs.

The Blue Jersey Giant Chick is 3 weeks old today, and they black Jersey Giant I don't know how old she is. She was already fully feathered when I got her so maybe 5 weeks old? How big are JG eggs? Are they huge? Thanks!

The BJG chick doesn't like to be held, but the Black JG doesn't mind. They are very curious birds! How tall will they be?

They get taller than Orps for sure. They get tall real fast, but it takes at least a year to fill out. When my 3 hens were young, they loved sitting on me, and let me pet their chests. Then they turned into terrible teens and didn't want anything to do with me for a few months. Then they started laying, and loved to be around me. And still do. You will get a kick out of watching them run. My youngsters are very friendly too. They will let me pet them and they will pick thru my hair. I'm sure your BJG isn't big on you holding him right now because he's trying to find his inner man!

I have Buff Orpingtons and they're a medium standard size. I'm really trying to keep them some what "tame" I don't like having wild chickens. No fun.

Are they pretty broody? ( If they are then I'm in trouble! I'll stick 30 eggs under them ...

Oh, I have a question: If I breed my Black Jersey Giant girl to the blue Jersey Giant roo what will I get? Black and blues? Will I get splash? Thanks! Just curious.

Fluffy My Jersey giant roosters are very tall One is 28 inches tall, 29 inches tall and the big one is over 30 inches tall. My hens are around the size of an orpington rooster not hen. At first they lay smaller eggs but as they mature their eggs get larger and larger. I have a hen that is 3 years old and her eggs are as big as a peking duck egg. they will not close in an egg box.
