Bantams and standards can breed, so size is not the issue. It might be interesting to cross her and then back breed young to dad. It will probably take you a little closer to what you want, but not by much. Do you not have a supplier that is within 60 miles? it might be worth the trip if you know the chickens are clean.

I just got 5 white JG's. And I'll admit it, I didn't read this thread at all.... I just looked at the pictures.

yea i figured maybe she was meant to be a stew pot chicken She is huge compared to my other girls I love her everyone thinks she is a Rooster because she has that "stinky eye" look but she is the my sweetest bird even the bantams pick on her I just liked her personaity and since she is at least part JG I could use her for breeding with a JG and maybe have cool color chick's from her I want to get a blue JG rooster I love the color on them I also have an Blue Americuana (sp) and have fallen in love

Anyone here familiar with the blue colors of jerseys- I recently got a new 5 week old and I'm curious about his color and what its called. He isnt really black, he looks almost like he's covered in a dust or something. I wouldnt say he was blue in the spectrum of, say, a blue andalusian, he just looks like he's covered in a grayish all over dust, over his black color.

I dont have any pics to post yet,the ones I took dont show the color true to life. Do blue jerseys get more obvious coloring as they grow and molt,or do they pretty much stay the same once they hit the 4 to 5 week mark?

I say 'he' but I'm not 100% sure its a he (either way is fine) Is this grayish dust color here to stay?

Has anyone else seen this in their flock? If so, how did it turn out?

are you sure its blue sounds almost like it could be splash when mine are little they are blue dark blue almost black sometimes and they stay that way. Now I do have a bunch of splashes that start out lighter then turn to splash try to post a pic
