Tinman I dont think that is the standard it depends on the chicken the pictures I posted are of my 2 rooster that I have now It was taken when I first got them at 11 or 12 weeks The splash especially does not show his maleness but I assure you he is all rooster at 1 1/2 years old now.lol

Well, I guess I will just have to wait and see. I don't really see any pointy feathers (saddle feathers) yet, but I do see the little waddles. Either way is ok with me. At least I have one with new blood for my flock (I am thinking positive here!).

Kathy, I'm fairly confident you have a pullet there - look at the legs; not nearly thick enough for a roo! She's PRETTY!

I am still not 100% sure on my Bobbi Porto babies...they are now 8 weeks old! I contacted Bobbi to ask, and she told me that she rarely knows for sure at 8 weeks. Wow! Guess I'm waiting, too! I hatched one splash, and was going to sell it if it was a cockerel, but Bobbi sort of talked me out of it...told me she's had bazillions of folks contact her for splashes, and to let her know if I want to sell it if it's a cockerel. Well...I think I'l just keep it, either way. If that's what folks are looking for in the Jerseys, he might make a good flock sire if he's got good conformation! So far, of the 10 I hatched, he's the largest of them all, so he must be a cockerel???
