Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Hi All, I hope you don't mind me barging in with a question.

We have a JG Blue Rooster who is about 10 months old. He seems to be having some sort of an issue on his neck. The feathers almost look sort of soft and thinning and he has what looks like a couple sores. Is he moulting at this age maybe?

@Happy Chooks

Well, I've got to say, #1 would need to pose some more, he should be more upright, with his tail higher (hens tail 40*angle), like this picture of a standard Jersey Giant: I can't really see #2's as well, but you can determine who looks closer to this picture.

oldchick, I really like that #2 you posted, such dark rich black and the comb/wattles area is so vivid red!!!! How do you get photos like that without washing out the color? If I DON'T flash the photo blurs from a little movement, and if I DO flash, I wash it out. Bumming

Alright, please bear with me, I hope I'm doing this right...........Here are the first 2 Jersey Giants up for comparison.

#1 7 1/2 month old cockerel

#2 8 month old cockerel

wheres the experts??? gone to bed??
I can't see the comb points on either of them really. And does anybody have a condensed version of the SOP??? What is the accepted angel of the tail??

Well I know with hens it's 40*, and the rooster, probably 60* but I know it's 40* angle on hens because I show mine, and the judge told me so

it may be just the way you took the picture of the blue that makes his back look to short and it looks as theres something with his tail to.( looks a little long or angle)
the blk looks to have a better back line and tail ( from the angle of pic) looks more the right length.
wynette gets on late am to 3pm sometimes a little longer.

it looks like there my be quils there. they do molt around a year old. any others have spots like that?

Usually roo's will molt one section of their feathers, my roo did his wing feathers, then his hackles, but not at the same time.
