Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Hey everyone.. I have some JG babies that are 2 weeks old. I am selling some today and want to keep two pullets only. What are the FIRST signs of boy/girl? Does anyone have pictures to show me? I have some that feathered in a little faster. All are showing some comb development. I checked eye color and didn't notice a difference so .. help please? What can I do about sexing as best I can at 2 weeks?

wow, wish I was closer but I'm waiting on white Chantecler eggs from an auction I won and then (knocking self in head) I bid on some MORE, white JG's, and won those too. Oh what am I doing to myself???

Nearly 9 month old cockerel, outside, natural light. Same roo as in first comparison photo. I don't care if everyone knows he's mine.
He does have green irridescence in his feathers. I may have written wrong age in the first photo of him, he was born mid June last year, so almost 9 mon, not whatever I said back then.

how about std size eggs?

Hey Tonya! Is this size eggs I have to look forward to? XLjumbos! Can't wait for your eggs to hatch! I tried candling the other night, but the only conclusion I came to is that I need to change the batteries in my flashlight.

the older girls lay xlg all the time. jumbos not so offen but nice to get then. the only eggs I get under a lg is the ones that have been laying under a month.on the scale just about all are hitting lg/xlg and the smaller ones (darker brn ones) are med/lg from the young ones.
forgot if you see nothing but blk they are good.

Okay, with my limited knowledge/experience, my opinion shouldn't really count

So I think both of these cockerels are somewhat misrepresented in their pictures. I like the black one for his nice solid legs, (haha this must come from my years with horses), nice tail feathers and I like his head/eye. If this guy were to stand up Straight and proper, I think his tail angle might be a bit low, but I think his wing would be parallel wih his nice straght back. He would also appear more balanced.
So with the blue cockerel, it's just REALLY hard to see much with the pic. It looks like his chest is filling out well, unless it's just that he's so front-heavy that it appears that way. His tail appears to be nice with decent angle. In this pic, his back looks short.
I tried to get some pics today and I must say, chickens are very dificult to get good pictures of!! Sheesh, they're always eating, scratching, pecking, pooping or on high alert. And just when they settle down and you're about to get some good shots some kid, dog, hubby, tractor goes blasting by sending them back into high alert.

Alright, please bear with me, I hope I'm doing this right...........Here are the first 2 Jersey Giants up for comparison.

#1 7 1/2 month old cockerel

#2 8 month old cockerel

I think when I got my three australorps I got a giant girl instead. She is way bigger then my girls, and did not lay an egg for about 10 months. Can she be a giant? I'm going to post pictures soon

Does she have yellow on the bottoms of her feet? Jersey Giants are supposed to.

Hey Soaring Hawks, I WANT EGGS THAT BIG! Holy crap. My JG hens lay large eggs. Nothing like those jumbos. I would only have to cook two instead of four for lunch.
