jersey giants?

I bought some chickens 5 months ago from tractor supply. I bought the color egg layer pack. along with some white ones [very flighty] I got these beautiful black with blue sheen chickens. they are very sweet and are already laying a dark brown egg. almost purple when they first lay. but are these beautiful big black hens jersey giants? my chickens free range daily from afternoon usually 1-2 until dark... love my new hobby and past time. in the picture you can see my little chicken herder chico. when they go to the front yard he sends them back to the backyard. they have woods and my nice neighbors yard and mine to explore daily...thanks for the input,laura

Not certain of the breed - they might be Australorps . You have a very attractive and healthy looking flock.

My Jersey Giant laid a light brown, almost rose colored egg. Check the bottoms of their feet -- yellow feet are traits of Jersey Giants.

I have to go outside and check what color legs and feet my Cuckoo Marans has. I think Australorps have pink feet (the bottoms).

With the dark egg color, maybe you've got a Marans? I don't know, as none of my Marans actually turned out to be Marans (feed store mix ups -- one was the Jersey Giant instead, and my Cuckoo is really just a barred rock mix! Sigh.)

thank you so much! I wish when you buy a variety pack from tractor supply they would tell what kind you are getting.... I have a huge golden girl too ,don't know what she is but shes beautiful with just a few feathers of black.

the eggs are a rich dark brown when they first started laying couple weeks ago [I guess they are 5.5 months almost 6] their eggs were almost purple brown...

Are you 100% certain it isn't your white birds laying the dark brown egg? I can't tell for sure, but they look like they might be Amberlinks. Mine lay a really pretty darker brown egg. My Jersey Giants and Australorps lay tan-medium brown eggs.
