Ok, I just got some JG eggs. The rooster is black and some of the hens are blue. Are all my chicks going to be black? If I understand the blue gene i could have blacks or *maybe* splashes, right?

You will have a 50% chance of having either blue or black chicks, but that's only an estimate out of 100 chicks. Your actual results may vary depending on how many eggs you hatch out. Breeding a black roo to blue hens will give you ONLY black or blue chicks. The only way you can get splash is if you breed blue to splash or splash to splash.

Oh ok. I think I'm going to be lucky to have 1 blue then. I only have 7 eggs.

Thanks,

You can also get splash by breeding blue to blue. That will give you approximately 50% blue, 25% black, and 25% splash.

The actual numbers are:
black x black = 100% black
black x blue = 50% black, 50% blue
black x splash = 100% blue
blue x blue = 50% blue, 25% black, 25% splash
blue x splash = 50% blue, 50% splash
splash x splash = 100% splash
