Jersey Giants

I have just got ours situated in their new pen and I'm trying to fix a coop for them.
My main concern is what size door I will need and how big the nest boxes should be?

Mine are only 19 weeks old but I'm trying to plan ahead so I won't have to deal with too many adjustments later.

I was thinking 24in. X 15in. for door size, and
18in X 18in for nest boxes.

What would ya'll recommend?

That's probably good. A little extra room wouldn't hurt. I read somewhere that the nest boxes only have to be 14X14X14, but that just seems too small to me. If it were me, I'd go with the 18" ones too.

I'm picking up my first Blue Jersey Giant rooster and blue hen tomorrow afternoon. Everyone says they are so gentle and such great birds. I can't wait to get them.

We have one JG hen. As a chick she grew faster than the others and it
looked like she would be HUGE. She was the first to start laying. Believe
it or not I think it was around 14 weeks.

Now at 7 months our Australorps have caught up to her and it's hard to tell
the differecnce between her and the Australorps.

She is about 10% bigger than our fat Buff Orp and has a perfectly feminine
chicken cluck.

Mine are 10 weeks old and taller than my adult buff orpington. In the morning when I go to let them out, they all let me hold them and kiss their necks. Hilight of my day, it all down hill from there, LOL Karen

We went to my daughters house for thanksgiving and I had to take the 7 chicks with me. I have them in a box with a light plugged in to an inverter in the cigarette lighter to keep them warm. About an hour ago we picked up the Jersey Giant rooster and hen. If you could see us you would get a good laugh! We are in a VW Paasat. My son is driving, my wife in re front seat with one chihuahua, and me in the back seat with two big boxes with the JGs, the box of chicks with the light on my lap and the other chihuahua sitting on my shoulder! I am getting some funny looks from people!

The blue jersey giants are beautiful. The male is about 15 pounds and stands 2 feet tall. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

We have 16, they are all around 3 months and 16 to 20 inches tall, one of the roos (the biggest) is a monster, all pretty easy going.. I would love to get some Blue eggs too when you get some..
