Photo 1 for me because with her mouth closed, Emmy looks sweet, innocent and adoring like Lacy; in #2 with her mouth open she looks cheeky and ready to get into trouble.
PS. You already know this but, they are beautiful!!
Emmy is not angry, she is full of anticipation with her mouth open...seconds later, lip licking ensued!
Without a frame of reference, you have no idea how big they are--so not too fair but wanted pics of them standing looking like ACDs. They look mature, but are not adult size by any means. Usually we see them about adult height, but take 2 to 4 years to put on the muscle mass of an adult.
Keep in mind, those ACDogs grow into their EARS...the skull spreads to accommodate the head dent (brain bumps each size). Takes time to get as massive and the girl ACDs are never as HUGE as the males get.

The birds so bothered Alexander, we found him crying on the couch in the living room. The birds were on the wire outside looking INTO the house, cawing at him!
That did that for us...we put the run on the crows and always have wherever we go. I will not have birds welcomed and then have them act like that...buggers, eh!
Quite correct...I am baiting the girls to sit pretty with sugar peas from the garden...they SO love them and I am thrilled I planned and planted them some.
You can easily see that Lacy is bigger than Emmy...same height but proportionate...don't worry tho, them girls are straight up on the same level status wise.
Garden is bountiful...tons of beans to pick, beets are doing well, decent onions, and the zukes are on the grow! Corn is tasseling...so kewl!
Cutester pumpkin! Pie pumpkin...may get decent enough for a pie...heh heh heh...
So which of the two gals is the GOODEST behaving...yeh...I mean like who is the one you could leave and trust to be a nice nice doggie...not getting into mischief every second???
Lacy..."I am SO busting into the Veg Garden...SO busting IN...jest watch me pull this gate apart."
"Hey," I say..."Hey now Lacy, are you busting in...now are you??" See the innocent Lacy LOOK! And then lookit Em's ears, hers are back and she is, "Not Lacy getting into it again!" No wonder Em bites the Lace, eh! Stop causing so much troubles for the Mom, eh.
See how Em is blocking Lacy from barging in...Emmy understands boundaries and rules...Lacy, not so much and you just gotta adore that in Lacy (the love bug)! Lacy is cute enough she can almost get away with it. "Who me, an innocent red pup...really, me do things I know I should not!"
Lacy is the one with the halo that falls down and chokes her on occasion...hee hee...
Rick has started to call Lacy, Houndini...for her constant all in break out attempts. Thank heavens this is not our first ACD rodeo. We know how to deal with them ACDs...firm and kind...and lots of patience. One day, some day, the grow outta their terrible pupness and become like all our adult ACDs that have their OBM's arrive.
Emmy is pretty much still the thinker--the logical one years before an ACD puppy should be...she has positive determined stubbornness for sure, but she is so much easier to manage than the Lace is. Can't blame the Lacy tho...the love bug just wants to be stuck like glue to you...getting huggies and love and when the moment comes, she is ready to grab it. She is turning into the NO FEAR of the duo. NO FEAR sometimes = no sensibility...so I have to watch her like a hawk to keep her safe. She is a test so worth the effort. LOVE BUG!
See Lacy looking at me...she has gone round the Veg Garden...for a better view of me picking beans. Emmy is still quite happy to be at the garden gate--Em can wait because she knows that is the gate I go in and out from. She knows I look up every few beans to see where and what they are doing. She knows I watch them constant. Lacy on the other hand, not so patient, not so sure I am watching her...so she does something to make me watch...or so she thinks she is. Lacy will learn to be patient and wait....all in due course as a puppy becomes a dog.
ACDs do play like no other dog breed that I know of. Bite the face, leg, belly...bite bite BITE!
We had Makins as a single ACDog and no, she did not wrestle with people. We adopted Stoggar so Makey Makes could have a fellow dog friend to be a dog with. Each ACD we have treats each of the humans in their pack differently. They bend to suit each person...so really ARE family dogs fer sure. Adapting to the human they are with...same can be said of their dog friends, even the herding animals. Adjust their force to suit their quarry...don't get too close to say the ducks and stampede them...different with rams compared to ewes... Smart enough to adjust to suit the situation.
The puppy play tones way back as they get older. I mean they can't bend like they do as pups...keep in mind the cartilage becomes bone...so their growth plates stop being as flexible and one of the reasons why Foamy wants so little to do with the two pups...older dogs don't appreciate how the pups play, bouncing off yer head and all the biting. ACD pups have needle teeth, but now, the two are getting adult front teeth...whole lot of power in them bigger teeth and quite literally, they get face muscle that can shatter their teeth. As I have said prior, a life support system for a set of JAWS is what an ACD is.
Did my first bus run of the 2015/2016 year. Pups were good about waiting on me so now it is dog time.
Who let the dogs out? WOOF WOOF!
