Jest Another Day in Pear-A-Dice - Higgins Rat Ranch Conservation Farm in Alberta

Heel low:

Now wouldn't THAT be a bonus Deb...if it was something tres silly...

Estimate on the skirt project (had to do up the pattern & then lay it out and measure it on the material...) is of the five meters I have in the blue satin crepe (will I be calling it crap if I don't succeed at this project...maybe and nice to have an out! "SATIN what??"), probably use up 2.7 meters to make the skirt.

That leaves me 2.3 meters (90 inches @ 60 inches wide) and with a shirt pattern I would like to do up to match...that pattern at 2.1 meters, that leaves 0.2 of a meter play room...perhaps? Good thing about the shirt pattern is it has a contrasting fabric, so even if I have fudged up and have too little of this blue fabric to make the whole shirt outta the material left...I can add a main fabric with the blue satin crepe as the contrast (accent!) and have an outfit that still matches but opens up to go with other things too.

woot.gif

I have really forgotten how much fun there is in sewing...seeing how well you can place the pattern to get the most outta the fabric you have. So many little piddly things to be keeping you amused.

Reminds me of stain glass I use to do too...lots of little things you did to complete the whole project, so you never found it mundane or boring because it was the same repetitive things over and again. Wonderbar...

Hope I stay this pleased to the point where the skirt is completed for wearing and I still LIKE it. Bwa ha ha...

Tara, how is Lacey doing? Hope she didn't eat too much 'yellow' snow or ice.

Just fed the both of them a light with rice late lunch. We skipped breaky this morn. I was not in the mood to do another late night clean up, aisle nine.

She ate yellow snow alright...ruminant beans and is paying the price of that "snacking." I reinforced the gate to make it doubly puppy proof and raked up some escaped beans. I can't keep the place completely poop free but there is a better defense on it today.

another thing to consider with regard to fabric lay Is the Bias. that will cause the fabric to pucker or ripple.

deb

Good point Deb.

Sharp needle, lotsa pinning, and I do realize any sewing will leave permanent holes in this particular fabric. Not the easiest of all to choose but hoping it is so worth the results.

The grain is pretty good on the satin crepe...and I know the heaviness is something you must allow for. If you let the material drape, it can pull your sewing askew or when cutting it can louse up your pieces.

Not alot of flex in this material, and I will be cutting and then zig zagging every cut edge...so the seams do not unravel. See how it goes. It will be an adventure indeed!

Meet the newest edition to our fleet...have already started calling Rick "MR SUB"...after the fact that now we own TWO suburbans in our Pear-A-Dice home fleet...this one is a 1988 4x4 and is a retired ambulance vehicle. Barely used.

Awesome clean unit...low miles and a plain Janer...this one is clean of lots of chrome so will be more likely driven in winter...

If'n we wanna repaint her...easy peasy compared to the 1980 Suburban! Even as a plain one, she still has air conditioning and a back end heater, towing package, etc.

This was the original unit that Rick wanted to purchase a year or so ago before we bought the 1980 loaded Suburban...but this unit, she went to someone else...and had a ton of work done to her...and we paid exactly what he wanted to pay for her before things like new exhaust, seals etc. were done. Bully!

Don't like that the people jacked her up and put on stupid tires/rims...but I am sure Rick will outfit her to suit us with things like hood deflector, license plate lights, back LED strip so we can be seen better with more lighting. He will probably install better fender protection and I am a real advocate for running boards to cut down on road spray and help get my fat butt into the vehicle...heave her on UP! Not sure how I feel about this unit having been jacked up and the windows tinted, but if we can get some miles outta it and I adapt and accept this arrangement, I guess I'll be OK. Jest not our style and we would have preferred to see her left original.

She's a more industrial type truck and I can't say I don't like that aspect...down and dirty, get us from point A to B in security 'specially when it gets nasty out!

Yeh, Emmy...another DOG BUS, eh!

Lacy inviting Em to play...

What colour should we play with first?? The blue or the red tuggy???

OK, RED Rover it is!

Cutesters!

OK...switchin' to the BLUE!

Yeh, every day is a colourful adventure with them doggles...

So yesterday, finally got to setting out a rubber pan of chicken sized granite grit...
woot.gif

What for? Have a closer l00k...for these guys.
hu.gif

I believe these are the babies...

And this is Momma, watching diligently!

Rick runs grader and HATES, ABHORS that he clears off the roads and the wild birds flock to it for the grit it uncovers...why would he be so negative? Because often the grouse get smucked up by vehicles during their hunt for the coveted gravel grit. sigh.

Did not want our family of five grouse (one is a male that shows up and drums his widdle heart out) to meet with the same kind of dangers...so pan in Dolgo and voila...first day and being used already.

You and Rick are 5 STAR human beings -

I never even realized birds do that to get grit. BTW what are the girls getting for Xmas? Promise I won't tell. Is Foamy still in the picture - haven't heard her mentioned in a very long time. Hope she is okay.

What a wonderfully caring thing to do, Tara. You rock! (or pebble)

Yeh, I got me rocks in the head...you bet!
lau.gif

This one bit of caring, well I can fully blame this on Rick...his idea to put pebbles out for them grouse!

Girls have two very strong chew bones that may go in their containment area. Since we buy whatever we want or need whenever...Christmas presents oft times seem senseless...but these two struck my curiosity and thought the girls would enjoy them. So these be what Santa be bringing the two puppers.

Foam is fine...like all the other BAZillions of creatures here...I can only imagine the length of my posts if we had to visit with each and every living being here...posts to rival War & Peace!

Just got off the phone from ordering a customized front license plate...will be identical to the '80 Sub but will read "1988" and be in black lettering not blue. Enjoyed our first cruise in her on Sunday. Rick has a ton of items ordered to personalize it and protect the paint AND ensure we be seen (no license plate light on it...good gack...so he has an LED one ordered). He will likely have the bottom half treated and then rock guarded...believes he will have that coloured black. Did some tire kicking on Saturday and think we will go with a much better longer lasting extreme snow tire. Laugh at how utterly useless this set of tires and the tread were in the light skiff of snow we had. Sheesh...
roll.png

Rick has a whole bunch of items from stainless tail pipes to hood deflector and matching window ones coming in. I sure enjoy seeing him pimp it out to suit his tastes. Got a front bench seat cover, console now and we took her to the car wash and he washed it up like decent. Suspect the engine compartment has never been cleaned...ugly on a stick it was, but not no more's!

Girls lovin' the winter here...jest a prancing abouts playing as only ACDs do.

Jest ripping about...

Tuggin' terrors...
wee.gif

My face hurts from laughing at their antics...such fun indeed.

Anyone wants to laugh till it hurts, get a pair of puppies, add a few toys plus snows, and let it all unfold.

Hope everyone has an awesome homely (hee hee) Christmas and New Years...
