Jest Another Day in Pear-A-Dice - Higgins Rat Ranch Conservation Farm in Alberta

Pics
Bama - can't have any here. My next door neighbor is getting some in spring but, has to keep them at his friends place in another suburb. I can't afford to keep up a dog, used to raise them when I was young. So I love on "Bella" the dog next door. I am about to order her Xmas present.

Bama I think you'd be a lot of fun to have around - your wife would probably kill both of us. Hope you know I just like to tease you. I'm with you all the way vs Fema or whatever his name is.

I am so excited- my sister in New Mexico just adopted a 5 mos. old Australian cattle dog mix male. So I finally have a nephew. I'm going nuts waiting for pictures..

My niece started with a cattle dog ANGUS, he passed away last year. She got a aussie mix female after, then decided to get another aussie mix male - I guess you can tell she likes them just fine. I knew their names at some point but, they disappeared like everything else.

My sister hasn't named hers yet but I know it won't be anything keen like "Fixins,"

Nothing like a new dog to bring excitement to the world.

New dog dog...well congrats...what wonderful NEWS! Yes, you can certainly enjoy your sister's new dog. What fun!

Did you ever get pics of the pup?

Five months old...heh heh heh...yes, best your sister break that new one in...hee hee... We have a saying amongst us brave (or is that silly?) enough to have a young Cattle Poop. "The Optional Brain Module does not arrive for at least two years after the pup shows up"...Yes, yes, the OBM can sometimes take TWO YEARS to show up...hee hee... Be very happy the dog is not at yer house...and you can admire them from a distance! Very sensible Diva...very!

What are your Thanksgiving plans beyond the football games and beer?

Drinking beer and watching football sounds like an excellent plan

Bwaha ha ha...we Canucks have beat you Yanks out ... we had our T-Day already in October...the thirteenth was our Thanksgiving Turkey Day. Gobble gobble already long gone!

I cannot imagine having to wait till now to have T-Day!

Veg Garden as of today...

Imagine the harvest I would NOT be having for T-Day dinner...at least the VEG part would not be homegrown!

So yesterday because of the immanent 20 inches of snow forecast and then lower and lower temps...I decided to get one of the "Honey Do" items off my list of must do doo's.

This one is all my fault...I mentioned to Rick how well the shelterbelts had been doing...the ones that had snow fence in place to protect them...

Huge difference in plant size...big on the right and way, way tinier on the left where no snow fence was...

So what happens, Rick comes home with another roll of the orange and plops it down..."Yeh, my wish is his command, eh?"
hmm.png

So here is where I went to install more snow fence

Got her rolled on out and then stomped down the bit of snow cover there (sure glad not doing this today now!)

Laughed and laughed...we have some rather large for Hawthornes bushes and they can really tear you up if you get too close!
hmm.png

BEEP BEEP BEEP...watch yah don't BACK into one...bwa ha ha...OUCH!
barnie.gif

So there...snow fence is up and ready for the winds and snows..."Let it snow, eh!"

And it did...and will continue to for the next few days

But nothing like last December...hee hee--go revisit that--December 2013!

See how cute Fixins was last year; going from house to dog house...from the dog house to house ...happy dog!

Yeh...I called this mountain range of snow, Mt. St. Higgins... YIKES...it was only December and it kept on snowing every two or three days...more and more and more snow!

So lots to be thankful here even if it is NOT our Thanksgiving Day officially!

Took Fixins out this morning (dot of snow on the snoot!)

She is posing here in front of a temporary pile of birch...pretty snow covered today and very glad I hauled in two cart loads of birch splits to the house and wood box in the Man Porch yesterday evening. All part and parcel for getting ready for some more snows.

She was starting to question how many chores she needed to be attending to, today...

Can you see the questioning impressed upon me..."How long...how long now?"

She'll humour a few jaunts to buildings and what nots...but....

She starts dropping a few subtle but very serious hints <<gonna lick a metal post?? blip blip!

>>

She is quite done on the chore regiment for this morning...not even that cold out yet...just minus seven (19F)...t-shirt weather still!

The house is calling Fixins, "You Hoo! Warm by the woodstove on her cloud bed!"
gig.gif

All I had to do was mention the word HOUSE just once..."Need to go back to the house Fruit Cup?" and lookit the zippiness in Princess Warrior!!!!

"Cripers...can't keep up with the old dog heading to be house bound!"

So I hope all the US residents enjoy the feasting, friends/family, and thankfulness today.

I can be most thankful too...no big din to have done up!

Just another day here in pear-a-dice...so probably have something chicken for supper tonight. Fixins looks to be a bit over sensitive today weather wise and well...nothing like good ol' chicken fat to pork up and increase one's cold tolerances...and endurance for doing the winter chores, too. Poor poor Lass(y)! We can fix that for her...some nice chicken broth and chicken meat in her kibs...some grease for the pupper to ingest!

Doggone & Chicken UP!
